David is presently the Director of Quality and Patient Safety at the Beacon Hospital Dublin, Ireland. He joined the US Navy Nurse Corps after receiving his basic nursing education at the Episcopal Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. During his career in the Navy he served in a variety of roles in many different medical facilities from small dispensaries to large teaching hospitals both in the United States and in Japan. He received his Masters Degree in Nursing at the University of California, San Francisco with a speciality in Administration and Community Health. His primary focus today is healthcare quality, most recently taking on the challenges of implementing a Quality and Patient Safety Program at a new private hospital operated by an American healthcare system in Dublin Ireland. His special interests are in the areas of Patient Safety, Continual Accreditation Readiness, Performance Measurement and Organizational Culture. David has received certification in Nursing Administration, Advanced (CNAA) by the American Nurses Association as well as certification as a Healthcare Quality Professional (CPHQ) through the US based National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ). He has been a Board member of the International Healthcare Quality Certification Board (HQCB) since 2004 and is a member of the Healthcare Quality Certification Board Examination Committee. David has presented at a variety of US and international seminars and workshops.
